What's in your pocket?

All of my skirts and aprons have pockets, and by the end of the day, they have become little time capsules of where I’ve been and what my kids have been doing.

They often contain a mix of:

  • Lego bricks
  • tissues, possibly used
  • scraps of doodled paper
  • library receipts
  • Kroger receipts
  • rabbit pellets
  • nails and screws
  • parts of disassembled pens
  • rubberband bracelets
  • bent paper clips
  • popcorn kernels
  • a Skittle that somehow escaped notice
  • the ubiquitous penny

On laundry day, checking pockets is the same kind of back-in-time experience, with change and Lego bricks, pocket knives and small screwdrivers,  and of course, assorted gum wrappers.

If I were to analyze these contents, I’d say we must be very busy building something, and we sustain ourselves with Big Red, DoubleMint, and Starburst.
